When I set a goal to write every single day in 2011, I never dreamed I’d be resetting the clock on that goal every New Year’s Day since — but here we are, about to begin. YEAR THIRTEEN!
To celebrate this momentous occasion, I have a very daring idea that will take a lot of help from my friends. With 12 years of daily blogging under my belt, what I want to do this year is a Daily Writing Rewind: every month will be one of the theme from one of the previous blogs. Audience participation will be in high demand. Wanna help me make this impossible dream come true?
Here’s the breakdown:
JANUARY: My challenge will be to write anything I want, maybe even using some of my old grad school writing exercises to inspire the day’s creativity.
FEBRUARY: My challenge will be to write a piece of short fiction every day — with first lines written by YOU, my wonderful friends and family
MARCH: My challenge will be to write something every day that will be inspired by THREE THINGS provided by YOU, my wonderful friends and family.
APRIL: My challenge will be to write a choose-your-own-adventure story that will begin April 1 and conclude April 30. I’ll write a piece of the story every day and YOU, my wonderful friends and family, will vote on what happens next.
MAY: My challenge will be to write something every day inspired by songs suggested by YOU, my wonderful friends and family.
JUNE: My challenge will be to write something everyday inspired by words YOU, my wonderful friends and family choose, based on the “letter of the day” (i.e. June 1 will be A, June 2 will be B, and etc.)
JULY: My challenge will be to write something every day using things that inspire YOU, my wonderful friends and family.
AUGUST: My challenge will be to write something every day using post titles written by YOU, my wonderful friends and family.
SEPTEMBER: My challenge will be to write about the simple, everyday things that make “today special” — input from YOU, my wonderful friends and family, wanted.
OCTOBER: My challenge will be to use photos or images provided by YOU, my wonderful friends and family, to inspire each day’s writing.
NOVEMBER: My challenge will be to use the comments section to answer YOUR questions and take YOUR suggestions about what I will write each day.
DECEMBER: My challenge will be to get personal, get introspective, and write what I want to write as I reflect on another year of daily writing.
This is a tall order, y’all — but I’ve been dreaming of the Year 13 and taking this on for awhile now. I hope you’ll read along and support the process, especially during those “audience participation” months.
Ready for the rewind? I can’t wait!
Please note: it will be FREE to read along and participate in the 2023 blog. Donations are always much appreciated. Venmo: @sarahwolfstar or PayPal: shwolf7@gmail.com.
